Careers at Cynaxus
Senior-only delivery. US-based. Honest counsel. If those words describe how you've always wanted to do this work, we want to talk to you.
Who we hire
Senior operators with proven experience.
Cynaxus exists because senior consulting talent is too often paired with junior delivery teams, vendor commissions, and short-term incentives. We're building a different kind of firm — one where the most experienced people stay close to the client work, and every engagement is measured by the clarity, trust, and durable outcomes it creates.
Every person on this team has been the practitioner — the CISO who owned the program, the cloud architect who ran the migration, the principal engineer who shipped the product, the infrastructure lead who got the call at 2AM. We are often asked to support 'no-fail' missions where success is the only option.
We don't hire people who managed those people. We hire the people who did the work.
That standard is what makes the model work. Senior judgment stays directly connected to the work — no bait-and-switch, no junior bench, no account manager in the middle. When you join Cynaxus, you are the delivery. That's a higher bar to clear on the way in, and a more meaningful place to be once you're here.
If you've been solving this class of problems at a senior level and you're ready to do it alongside people who have too — without the workplace drama, wasted time, politics, padding, or pretense — we'd like to talk.
We move deliberately on hiring because the wrong fit costs everyone more than an open seat ever would. The roles we post are real, the process is direct, and if your experience lines up, you will hear from us.
What we look for
- Proven seniorityYou've held the seat, not just supported it. Your decisions had consequences.
- Deep domain expertiseReal depth in at least one of our practice areas — cybersecurity, cloud, engineering, managed services, or client delivery.
- US-basedAll engagements are US-based. No exceptions. If you are not a current US citizen you are ineligible.
- Executive communicationYou can write clearly, speak precisely, and represent the firm to a board or general counsel.
- Commitment to growthAnnual certifications and a consistent pace of learning are non-negotiable. You're not done learning.
Life at Cynaxus
What working here actually looks like.
Here is what we offer the people who join us — the benefits, the expectations, and the environment we've built to make the work worth doing.
100% Fully Remote
No commute. No legacy thinking about where work gets done. No driving to an office just to sit on a Zoom call you can join from anywhere.
You're trusted to own your mission from wherever you do your best work. That trust isn't a policy we revisit — it's foundational to how we operate, and it's how we attract people who perform without being watched.
Competitive Compensation
We serve demanding clients and we take proper care of the people who make that possible. Compensation is set at market rate for the seniority we actually hire at.
Your Health Insurance, Fully Covered
We can't serve our clients if we aren't alive and healthy. Full health insurance coverage is a baseline obligation — not a differentiator we package as a selling point, and is available for full time employees.
PTO & Sick Days
Time off is prorated based on your start date and scales with tenure through annual accrual — the longer you're here, the more you earn. We believe loyalty should be recognized in the fundamentals, not just in title.
Top Technology, Refreshed Regularly
Your tools should match your level. Hardware is current, software is licensed, and refreshes happen on a defined schedule — not when something finally breaks.
Cloud & DevOps Sandboxes
Hands-on experimentation is how senior practitioners stay senior. You'll have dedicated sandbox environments to build, test, and break things — no ticket required, no justification memo.
A Small, Deliberate Team
We don't hire to fill a seat or meet a headcount target. Every hire is made against competency, skills, and experience — not immediate need. We will wait 6 months to find a new team member if we need to. Intentional teams mean more trust and ownership.
US-Based, Genuinely Diverse
Our team is entirely US-based — which means real cultural diversity without the friction of language barriers or the coordination tax of working across continents. Different backgrounds and experiences, shared time zones, same mission.
Aggressive, Annual Training
Certifications are a condition of employment, not a goal you set at your annual review. We will never know it all — but we will spend our entire careers trying. If that pace doesn't excite you, we are the wrong firm.
Planet Fitness™ Membership
A company-paid gym membership with team competitions and a genuine focus on physical wellness. Stress management and performance start with how your body feels. Use it or lose it — the perk goes away if you don't. Employers need to support your physical health when they rely on your mind.
Four Mental Health Days
Some days you're just not ready to face the work, and that's a fact of being human. Four mental health days annually, no questions asked, no PTO deducted. Take them when you need them.
Required Pro Bono Work
We give back with our actual skills. You'll volunteer your professional expertise with organizations doing meaningful work: upgrading servers for a hospital, helping a non-profit find automation, hardening security for a cancer center. Real work. Real impact.
Team Functions & Annual Events
When schedules and travel align, we get together — team lunches, dinners, and organization events scheduled throughout the year. Your remote colleagues are remote only in distance, not in mind or in the relationships that make this team worth being part of.
Quarterly Performance Reviews
Annual reviews aren't frequent enough to actually drive performance. We do them quarterly — pacing feedback, surfacing problems early, and tuning expectations before they drift. You'll always know where you stand and what's expected next.
Monthly Coffee/Tea Subscription
We prefer to operate at a high level of caffeination at all times. A monthly subscription covers your coffee or tea habit — because the work requires focus, and focus requires fuel.
