Cynaxus is hiring a Business Development Manager to build new business channels across the regulated verticals we serve — financial services, healthcare, legal, defense and government, energy, hospitality and gaming, and higher education. This is a relationship-driven growth role on a base-plus-commission structure: meaningful base, uncapped commission, and a firm whose delivery record makes the second meeting easy.

About the role

We do not run a high-volume outbound machine, and this role is not a dialing seat. Our growth comes from referrals, reputation, and patient cultivation of the right rooms — industry associations, peer networks, counsel relationships, and the existing clients who vouch for us. Your job is to make that organic growth systematic: a full, honestly-staged pipeline of prospective relationships across the verticals, moving at the speed trust actually develops.

What you'll do

Develop prospective relationships with the same discipline we bring to delivery: identify organizations where Cynaxus can be genuinely useful, make thoughtful first contact, qualify fit, and bring senior practice leads in when a real need is ready for scoping. Build presence in the conferences, associations, peer networks, and advisory circles that matter in each vertical. Work with Client Services to recognize appropriate referral opportunities without pressuring existing clients or treating relationships transactionally. Keep relationship and opportunity records accurate, current, and grounded in reality. Represent the firm with credibility in conversations with CIOs, CISOs, managing partners, and boards.

What you bring

7+ years of business development in professional services, consulting, or managed services — selling expertise, not product. Demonstrated history of building pipeline in at least one of our verticals, with the relationships to show for it. Comfort with a long, consultative sales cycle and the discipline to work it without forcing it. Enough technical literacy to qualify an opportunity without dragging an engineer to every first call. High integrity — you will be the first impression of a firm that trades on candor.

Compensation

Base salary plus uncapped commission on closed business, with residual incentive on multi-year retained relationships — we want you compensated for the quality and longevity of what you bring in, not just the signature. Full details discussed openly in the first conversation.
